Unless you have a shaved head, hair is one of your only constant accessories. This inevitably means that we are bound to get bored and want to try new colors and styles. Here’s a sneak peek of the hairstyles we’ll see in 2017.
Rapunzel, Rapunzel … we all know the line. There’s going to be more than one Rapunzel this year. Super long, sexy locks are on trend. The ideal length is one-third of your body. For most of us women, that’s somewhere around our ribcages. For this style, we might have to fake it until we make it, so hair extensions will be your best friend.
The High Ponytail
We aren’t sure if it’s Ariana Grande’s emergence as the next queen, but high ponies are in full effect. The idea is to have a long, full ponytail rather than a cute short one. So, if your hair is less than about collarbone length, again, try adding extensions to rock this look.
Bangs must have been in last year because for 2017 everyone will be rocking the grown-out look. Face framing pieces – or hair brushing over the tops of our eyes – gives a rock and roll, edgy look. Plus, it has a surprise bonus – less eyebrow waxing visits! For those of us too attached to our one length hair, try temporary clip-in bangs or fake it using your own hair (we’ll leave a tutorial linked here). Fringe bangs pair well with a high ponytail.
Next Day Hair
This trend is perfect for those of us that sleep a little more on the wild side. This look focuses on hair that is straight hair with added texture. If you’re a tame sleeper you can get this look using a flat iron; just make random bends and pulls around the head.
Natural hair, referring to our natural hair texture, is in for 2017. This means curls, waves, and texture galore. If your natural hair is straight, good for you. This just means less blow-drying in the morning!
Short and Sexy
Short hair is always in for those of us bold enough to rock the style. This year, undercuts and vibrant shades will make classic cuts like a bob or faux-hawk even more unique. Of all the hairstyles this year, this one is the most customizable.
If you’re happy with your hair length and style, there are plenty of color options to try. Differing shades of copper from auburn to strawberry blonde are striking all the runways. Galaxy inspired shades like deep blues, silver, and lilac are the perfect pop of color for those who like to be daring. Balayage, a fancy union of ombre and highlights, works well with any hair color, length, and texture. We know no matter what style you choose, you’ll kill it.
