It was a ritual every Wednesday night over a glass of pinot grigio, you turned on your TV, sat back, and lived life through Carrie Bradshaw eyes. Comparing your best…
While we’re all still reeling from President Trump’s inexcusably irresponsible and rash decision to ban all transgendered people from serving in the U.S. military, Jimmy Fallon reached out to hilarious transgender comedian Patti Harrison and invited her to speak her mind regarding Trump’s unconstitutional declaration on The Tonight Show. And boy did she ever.
Although she wasn’t the only comedian who took Trump’s trans ban to task, Harrison was perhaps the most suited. In a monologue that lasted just over two minutes, Harrison gave draft dodger Trump the dressing down of a lifetime, holding nothing back as she points out the President’s sheer ignorance with sick burns like, “I get it, if you constantly draw attention to yourself, spend all day distracting everyone, and cost taxpayers millions of dollars, the perfect job for you isn’t the military, it’s the president of the United States.”
She goes on to say that she assumed Trump “probably thinks transgender people are those cars that turn into robots,” and that nothing about the announcement surprised her much. “When I saw the headline this morning at first I just read, ‘Donald Trump Bans Transgender People.’ And I was like, ‘Yep, sounds like him,’” she joked. The comedian also used her time to highlight the trans people who currently serve in the military, and those who have in the past, like decorated retired Navy Seal, Kristin Beck.
